Rote Grutze (Red Berry Pudding) Recipe

Rote Grutze (Red Berry Pudding) is a traditional summer dessert of German. They are also called as Red Currants. Rote Grutze is Classic Northern German Dessert serve with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients Required:

1. Six cups raspberries
2. Half cup white sugar
3. Two tblsp cornstarch
4. One – fourth cup cold water
5. One tblsp fresh lemon juice
6. One tsp vanilla extract 

Instructions:

1. Over medium heat combine both berries and sugar in a non – stick saucepan while boiling stirring constantly.
2. Whisky cornstarch into cold water in a small bowl until dissolved completely; stir into berry mixture. Reduce heat to medium low and cook mixture at a simmer until it. Begins to thicken, about 3 minutes.
3. Remove berry mixture from heat. Stir lemon juice and vanilla extract into the berry mixture. Transfer to a bowl.
4. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 24 hours.                                                                                           Your German Recipe Rote Grutze (Red Berry Pudding) is ready to serve.
